Valentine’s Day Doily Garland DIY!

Happy Friday! I have the day off today because of the SNOW! First snow day of the year! Whoo hoo! This morning I made hot chocolate pancakes. They were delicious! I’m not going to post the recipe, but you can click on the link to check them out.

So good!!

So anyways, since I’m trapped in for the day, why not do a fun craft? Valentine’s Day is only a week from Sunday! I found some doilies in my room, and I had some twine too. I love love loooooove garlands and I think they’re so pretty and fun. So, without further ado, here’s the FIRST Studio Josie craft!

Materials:

  • Doilies (whatever color, I used silver, white, and red. You can probably find them at a craft store)
  • Twine
  • Scissors (forgot to include them in the picture – oops!)
  • Tape

Instructions:

Turn the doily around so that you can’t see the color. (If it’s white it won’t matter which side) Thread the twine through one of the holes in the doily.

Then, thread it through the other side.

Continue doing that with all of the other doilies.

I tied a little knot on the first and last one to keep them secure.

Find the spot you want to put them. I put them on the ceiling over my bed! Tape them, and then cut the extra twine off the end so it doesn’t hang down. Here’s the final product!

Hope you guys enjoyed the first craft on my blog! If you happen to try this out, post a picture and use the hashtag #StudioJosieDIY and tag me!

Have a great day!

Vegan Ginger Chocolate Chunk Scones

DSC_0220.JPG

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday! This morning I made some DELICIOUS Vegan Ginger Chocolate Chunk Scones. My mom and I found the recipe on Post Punk Kitchen. They have a ton of great vegan recipes.

Since I didn’t write the recipe, I’m just going to link it:

HERE!

I’m going to share my experience and photos with you.

So, first things first, the ingredients. I used all the ingredients the recipe called for, except for allspice. We didn’t have any, so instead we used a few dashes of cloves. In the recipe, they used a vegan chocolate bar, we just used mini vegan chocolate chips! Chocolate is chocolate, after all!

I mixed all of the dry ingredients first:

Then added all of the wet ingredients to it:

After that, it started to get really doughy, so I used my hands. It sort of felt like pizza dough. I added in the chocolate chips:

And then they were ready to go onto the baking sheet! Instead of greasing the pan I just used parchment paper, and I scooped the batter into a 1/4 cup. Then I added some turbinado sugar (which is in the batter already) to the top of the scones! Here they are all ready for the oven:

They were in the oven for 15 minutes, so I didn’t have to wait too long 🙂 Here is the finished product:

I seriously would recommend trying this recipe. They turned out so, so yummy! They aren’t too crunchy and the middle is soft. It’s the perfect blend of ginger and chocolate. Plus – it’s a super quick recipe! (By the way – it made 13 in total) Go check it out!

Have a great day!

A Color Story App: Review!

Hi guys! I’m working on the NYC post — sorry for the delay! Anyways, have you heard of the website A Beautiful Mess? It’s probably my very favorite blog to read. The creators, Elsie and Emma, are so so awesome. They have two apps already, I think I’ve mentioned ABM, which is one of them. The other is a stop motion one called Party Party. I love them both so much! On Tuesday, they came out with a brand new photo editing app, A Color Story! It is the coolest and most useful app EVER! I love it so much! I bought all of the filters. I can’t get enough! (It’s a free app, by the way!) I’m going to share what it can do! Here are some examples of how awesome it is:

This photo is edited with just ONE filter! ONE! I used the Everyday filter, which comes with the app free. Look at the colors pop and the whites so bright! So amazing.

Another example. This one I used multiple filters. A lot were in the Chroma pack, though! (Oh – and there’s a curves feature! It’s so cool.)

This one was edited with Punch and Summer Day.

This is another really cool effect. (Everyday filter and flare 7, BTW) there’s bokeh, flare, light leaks, and color fog!

For this I also used the everyday filter. It really is for the everyday!
 Everyday and flare 16!

Hope you guys enjoyed this post! I really recommend this app. This wasn’t sponsered and these are all of my opinions FYI!

More posts coming soon!

Happy Friday!

New York City! Part One.

Hey, guys! So last Wednesday I went to New York City until Friday. (New Years Day) It was so much fun and I am so excited to share my pictures and experience with you all! (by the way – these were all taken with either my iPhone or Nikon) 🙂

This is just part one, so hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday I will put up part two!

We arrived at Grand Central at around 10:30 am. We checked our bags in at the hotel and went out to get lunch! We ended up going to Ray’s Pizza. It was so so yummy!!

After that we headed to the Winter garden theatre to see School of Rock on Broadway! School of Rock is one of my all time favorite movies (it may even be my favorite!), and I was really impressed with the show! I have seen the movie so many times I could point out everything they did and didn’t include in the show! The cast was super talented and I definitely recommend seeing it!

After the show, we went to the hotel. My cousin lives in Brooklyn, so we met up with her for dinner. The restaurant we went to was called Bareburger. It was one of the coolest restaurants I’ve been to! I got the black bean burger. It was SO. GOOD. Seriously. One of the best I’ve had. After that I got a chocolate banana milkshake, which was awesome, too!

After we ate, we went to the Rockefeller Center and 5th Avenue area. It was dark out so it was so pretty! Here’s the tree:

And here are some more pretty things:

Radio City!!!!

And NBC studios!!!!

The next day, Thursday, we went down to Chelsea. I looooooved Chelsea. It was so cool there and there’s so much to do.

IMG_8551

For breakfast we went to DOUGHNUT PLANT!!!!!!! It has been on my bucket list for months now! So many of my favorite bloggers have been here and have blogged about it. So surreal to actually be there! Some of the crazy awesome doughnuts on the wall:

And the seats were even cooler!!

IMG_8554

Okay, now for the moment you’ve all been waiting for, I’m sure. THE DOUGHNUTS!!!! Here was our ‘haul’:

I tried them all. From top left: gingerbread, blueberry, cinnamon sugar, chocolate mint, creme brûlée, and coffee cake. IF I had to narrow it down to my top two, it would be blueberry and creme brûlée. But they were all so so so do amazing! You need to come here if you’re ever in the city!

After Doughnut Plant, we went to the High Line which is also in Chelsea. It was really cool and the view was beautiful!

And after that… Chelsea Market! I have seen pictures and read a lot about it. It was so so cool and I would love to go back someday. There was too much food to choose from but I ended up getting sushi from Beyond Sushi.

It was soooo delicious. It had avocado and sweet potato! I also got a watermelon mint lemonade which was really tasty.

After that we went to Jacques Torres Chocolate! I got a hot cocoa which was good, but very strong and dark. (and I got a chocolate spoon to go with it!)

So that’s the end of part one! Hope you enjoyed it so far and I can’t wait for you to see part two. There is just so much I decided to make it into two posts!

Have a great week!
