goodbye, 2016!

Ah. At last, it has has finally come.

The last day of 2016!

Happy Saturday, everyone. I hope you’re spending the last day of the year with your friends and family. If not, I hope you’re watching Netflix and eating junk food alllll day. Either way, I wish you all the best year ever.

I love a New Year.  I love starting the year from scratch, having new firsts, and just trying to have the best year possible. And yeah. I’m one of those people who says, “this is the last time I’ll see you in 2016!” or “this is the last piece of pizza I’ll eat in 2016!” When you meet me I don’t seem like a sappy or nostalgic person at all, but I just like mentioning those things cause it’s fun and it gets ya thinking 🙂

This year was interesting. Veeeeeery interesting. I started 2016 in my favorite place: New York City. It was so much fun and whenever I am there, I always have the best time. This year, I graduated middle school and started high school. I made a ton of new friends and discovered new things about me! (I know, I know. So corny!)

This year I also discovered music I didn’t know would change my view on life, books that made me think, and television and movies I had no idea I needed to watch! Buuuuut, I’ll get to that in a second.

I try to only mention positive things here on my blog, but don’t think I’m gonna skip the bad parts of 2016. Personally, I had a pretty good year. If the world were talking, it’d probably say that it was one of the worst years in a long time! We lost so many great artists and people, but their legacy will live on. It was also the last year with one of the best presidents EVER: Barack Obama. Gosh, I’m gonna miss him and Michelle. Speaking of presidents, The US now has a new president who I hope does not destroy the world. (Sorry, Trump supporters.)

The world became a very scary place this year and I never thought it would be like this. I’m just hoping things get better in 2017!

Okay guys. Enough with all the sadness. Let’s get to my yearly favorites!!

TV: Freaks and Geeks, The Office, Gilmore Girls (Original and A Year in the Life), Stranger Things, Haters Back Off, The Fosters, New Girl, SNL,  How I Met Your Mother (currently watching that! SO.GOOD.)  And yeah. I finished/watched all of these shows this year. I know! That’s a lotta tv. But TV and comedy shows get me through a lot and I don’t regret one single episode 🙂

Books: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Me Before You, Finding Audrey, To Kill a Mockingbird (I read more, as these are just my favorites, but I hope to read WAY more books in 2017, and watch less TV!)

Movies: Finding Dory, Me Before You, Ghostbusters, Arrival, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. These were all movies that came out this year, but I finally watched all of the Molly Ringwald movies and they are the BEST!!!

I would list my favorites for music, but I made playlist for that! Well, sorta. I made a verrrrrry short playlist of my favorite pop songs of the year. It’s short because there were very few good pop songs. Spotify made a most-listened to playlist for me, too!

So that was just a short run down of my 2016 favorites – pop culture wise. I’d do more, but I’m gonna go enjoy the last day of 2016.

Happy New Years! I wish you ALL the best in 2017 and that you have an amazing year.

See ya! XOXO, 2016 Josie

Ps: what’s your New Years resolution? Mine is to write in my journal everyday, and write on here more!

Ok that was a lame way to end my last post of 2016… I need a good word to end it on… hmm…. what’s a fun word to say?

Razzle! Dazzle!

Yes! Have a razzle-ey dazzle-ey 2017! 🙂

Easiest Christmas Cards EVER!

Hey guys! Happy Saturday! As I write this I am knitting a Christmas gift for my friend (not at the same time, of course) and listening to the new Hamilton mixtape! (Jimmy Fallon, I LOVE YOU!!)

Today I am sharing literally the EASIEST Christmas card DIY. It’s extremely customizable, which I always love. I think customizable DIYs are awesome cause you can make them suit your style, and use what you already have at your house!

What I Used:
-christmas construction paper (I got mine in the $1 section @ Target!)
-glue
-scissors
-washi tape
-star gems
-pencil

Yep. THAT’S IT! If you’re a crafter or you’ve got a ton of craft supplies, I’m sure you’ve got all of this in your drawers.

I did two different types of cards, but as I said above, you can change everything to make it suit your style. I just figured I would share the ones I made this year! There are a ton of great ideas on Pinterest.

I am one of those people who likes making their cards opposed to buying them. Sometimes I get so proud of my cards that I’m more excited for people to see them than the actual present haha! I hope you guys enjoyed this and maybe try to make them yourself, cause they were super fun to make!

Can you believe there are only, like, 15 days til Christmas?!?!?!? AHHH!!!

weekend links

Just a quick little post today… here are some of my favorite things on the internet this week! Happy Friday!!

Pantone announced their color of the year and I am obsessed with it!

Adorable This is Us selfie… I’m in love with this show. So insanely good!!  If you haven’t seen it, definitely give it a watch.

Ummm… beet tartlets with goat cheese and beat greens pesto. Someone make me this!!

This. So dreamy.

Illustration of Jackie Kennedy. So beautiful!!

Harry Benson photography. I saw an article in People Magazine and he has captured so many iconic moments!

That’s all for today! Tomorrow I’m sharing a fun and EXTREMELY easy Christmas Card DIY! Yay!

Happy weekend y’all! 😉

Would You Rather? Christmas Edition!

Hello everyone! The week is alllllllmost over. YAY! I’m so excited for the weekend. I’m crossing my fingers that there’s a snow day or two hour delay on a Monday, cause it’s supposed to snow! I love snow. I think winter is my favorite season, of course I say that during every season. Haha!

I know these tags are kinda cheesy, but I love doing them! So, here’s the would you rather: Christmas edition!

1. Have to sing Jingle Bells loudly every time you enter a room OR wear a santa suit to work/school every day for a week?

Definitely sing jingle bells. Even though I’m not much of a singer, I would much rather do that then wear a santa suit!

2. Not celebrate Christmas this year, OR not celebrate your birthday?

As much as I love celebrating my birthday, I would probably choose Christmas! There’s something that’s just more exciting and festive. Plus you wouldn’t get to do fun things, like decorate!

3. Have Frosty the Snowman as your best friend OR Rudolph?

Hands down Rudolph. I just LOVE him! That movie is awesome. Frosty is pretty cool (get it? Cool?! Hahahahah.) but he would MELT!

4. Have mistletoe hanging in your bedroom doorway OR have a large, decorated Christmas tree in your bedroom doorway?

Hm, I guess mistletoe. A tree in the doorway seems awfully annoying!

5. Have Christmas tree tinsel for hair OR have fingernails that light up like Christmas lights?

Oh, this question is tooo hard! I’m going to have to go with tinsel. I know it may be itchy and uncomfortable, but tinsel is so so so pretty!

6. Live in a giant gingerbread house OR ride on the polar express?

Gingerbread house! Last year I made gingerbread houses with my friends, and it made me realize how cute they are, and how DELICOUS!

7. Receive socks for Christmas OR a dictionary?

100% socks! Who doesn’t love a new pair of socks!?

8. See The Nutcracker OR dance in The Nutcracker?

I’m pretty sure I would ruin The Nutcracker if I danced in it. LOL.

9. Have a job wrapping presents at the mall OR have a job taking pictures of children sitting on Santa’s lap at the mall?

I love wrapping presents even though I suck at it! I’d have to say take pictures cause that’s something I love to do!

10. Eat your cereal with eggnog instead of milk OR eat a candy cane sandwich?

I know a lot of people who hate eggnog, but I really like it. I feel like that would taste just fine, if you get the right kind of cereal. But, a candy cane sandwich could be interesting if you add the right flavors…

I’ll leave you with one more question for you to answer in the comments if you’d like:

Would you rather have a nose that glows like Rudolph OR have elf ears?

Happy Thursday!

Gift Guide: For the Book Lover!

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today’s gift guide is for the BOOK LOVER! We all know one, and I am proud to say I am one as well. 🙂  I’ll be sharing my favorite books I read this year towards the end of December!

1. Novel Teas – LOL get it, novel teas?  Cheesy, but these are SO COOL. With each tea bag it has a quote from a famous book or author. I would totally keep all of them and put them on my bulletin board!

2. Book Lovers’ Soy Candle: Old Books – I have seen this all over Pinterest and I think it’s such a cool product! I’m pretty sure they have other scents too!

3. The Book Was Better Sweatshirt – I mean, come on. This is true for everything! (Can’t find the exact link to it, but those are some others on Amazon!)

4. Personal Library Kit – I HATE when I don’t get a book returned to me, so this is perfect if you’re always lending out books!

5. Just One More Chapter Mug – Super cute and extremely accurate. Haha.

6. Read More Enamel Pin – I am just digging these enamel pins. Adorable!

Which one would you get for a book lover you know, or for yourself? 😉
