goodbye, january!

Hello and happy Tuesday everyone! Can you believe it’s the LAST DAY OF JANUARY?! Whaaaat?! It went by so fast! Yesterday was the first day of my second semester… I’m halfway through my freshman year in high school! I have actually had a pretty good experience in high school so far. I took History, Spanish, Health, and Algebra last semester, and I’m taking Art, English, Algebra, and Science this semester. I was really nervous to start my new classes cause I was finally getting used to my old classes, but I’m pretty excited for these. 🙂

This month has been pretty eventful. So much stuff has happened, it feels like it’s been a year since January 1st! I had finals last week, and I went to Vermont over the weekend. (I’ll share more photos in a few days!) here are some things on the internet I’ve been LOVING…

Needle felted cats! I really have been interested in needle felting, and these are super duper cute!

Crackle cake. Oh my god. This looks A.MA.ZING.

This water bottle. I’ve been trying to drink more water this year, and this is neat because it’s like a FitBit, but for water!

The Office: Where Are They Now? The Office is one of my favorite shows. This is HILARIOUS. I got a little teary-eyed when I saw that Jim and Pam supposedly named their third child Michael! And Michael named his kids after people from Dunder Mifflin… very Michael of him. Haha!

Kate McKinnon as Kellyanne Conway on SNL. She is a literal genius. Probably one of my favorites on the show right now. But OMG Melissa Villaseñor is new this year, and she is so funny. She is mainly an impressionist, and you have to look her up on YouTube because she is amazing at celebrity impressions!

This awesome desk setup! So fun and colorful!

The original Schuyler Sisters from Hamilton are performing at the Super Bowl… this is the only way you ever could get me to watch football – add some Broadway stars to the performances! 😉

IKEA’s gorgeous new nomad-inspired collection! I think I’m in love with every piece! ❤

And now, since it is the last day of the month, I may as well share my January Playlist! I haven’t been super on-the-ball with playlists lately, but it’s a new year and I can’t wait to share more of my favorite music.

So this month I have been LOVING Ed Sheeran’s two new singles. Gosh I have missed his music! He’s finally back on the top charts and I am so happy.

You guys may know that I have been OBSESSED with La La Land and the soundtrack. I have been listening to it non-stop (Hamilton, anyone? Haha!) and I can’t get enough. I think it’s so funny how on my most-listened to artists list, Ryan Gosling is, like, #3 now. Ha!

Yes, that is indeed Pocket Full of Sunshine. Yes, I know that song kinda sucks but come ON, who doesn’t secretely LOVE IT?! 😉 I think we all need it in our lives now.

I discovered the song Sovereign Light Café by Keane a few weeks ago, and I don’t know why I love it so much. I guess it’s just really catchy, and I love the lead singer’s voice!

I’m kinda surprised with myself that I put not one, but TWO songs by The Weeknd on here! I normally don’t think love their (their? Or his? I don’t know if it’s considered a band or not… Lol!) music, but these songs are so catchy!

What songs have you been loving lately?!

Hope you all had a great day! Happy last day of January. I’m wishing for a positive February….! 🙂

sunday night chat

Hello hello hello everyone! It’s been a few days… and by days I mean weeks! Ah! I’ve been super busy with school and studying for my final exams (yuck!) to have the chance to write on here.

A lot has happened over the past week or so. One, we got a new president. I don’t really talk about politics much, but I have no problem expressing my views on this subject area! I am not a Trump supporter and I do not appreciate anything about him. I know many people who do, and it’s great to see that other people have their own views and beliefs. I just do not think he is a good representation of America. I’m going to try my best to look on the bright side of things. I’m hoping he proves me wrong. Hopefully in 2020, I will be able to vote for someone awesome, like Hillary or Bernie! I can’t wait.

What I do think is an amazing representation of America was all of the WOMEN’S MARCHES yesterday! Boy, was that awesome! So proud of the people who marched and all the people who spoke up and supported it. Insanely inspiring, and I will remember that day forever! Really wish I could’ve gone to one, but I feel like I was there in spirit. #GirlsRule, always and forever. XD

I don’t want to spread negativity on here, so I’m just gonna share a few links from this week/last week that made me smile and took my mind off of all the sadder things going on in the world. 🙂

Neil Patrick Harris + James Cordon = The BEST Broadway Riff-Off EVER! I love love love those guys and I love love love all things Broadway so this made my day.

LA LA LAND. Oh. My. God. I saw this movie last week and I am in love! No wonder it won seven golden globes!! The entire movie was beautiful. Probably one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while, and it definitely made my favorite movies list! Totally have to see it again. (Again = 1,000,000 more times in Josie language.) If you didn’t see it – SEE IT NOW! This is one of those films that’s just better in the theater. 😉 (I have so much to say about it – I think I may do a movie review on it sometime soon!) In the meantime, the soundtrack will be on repeat 24/7! It’s great study music.

This. Just watch it. You won’t regret it. I’m still laughing.

Kate Middle-Toe Socks. Hahahaha! Genius.

Aziz Ansari on SNL last night. Loved him as Tom Haverford on Parks & Rec and I love him even more now. He is hilarious!

Peanut Butter S’moreos. Do I need to say more?!

That’s all for today, y’all! (Why do I say y’all? I’m not from the south, but whenever I type I feel like an old southern lady…..but no one has complained so I won’t stop. LOL!) I hope this post was somewhat interesting… 🙂 I’ll plan on posting a la la land review or some other post later this week! I have Thursday and Friday off, (YAY) so I get some extra time for blogging! Happy Sunday & have a great week!

2017, resolutions, links, & some snow

Hi guys!! HAPPY 2017! Yay!

I’m really excited for this year and I hope it brings a lot of good things 🙂

Do you guys have any resolutions? I have a few… the first is the same as last year: write in my journal everyday. I *somewhat* did that successfully, but not really? I wrote in it at least 3-4 times a week, and for the first 4 months I did it everyday. So I’m pretty proud that I did that. 😉

My new ones for this year were to 1) write more on here, 2) take more photos, and 3) read more! I’ve been using Elise Joy’s goal tracker and it’s awesome.

I am always really busy with school, but this year I’m really gonna try to write at least once a week, whether it be some weekend links or a playlist!

Speaking of links, here are some of my faves from this week!

Chocolate yogurt ombre popsicles… YES PLEASE! Need to make these!

Mandy Moore’s award show dress… so so so cute!

Geo slice night lights… LOVE these. Super pretty.

Michelle Obama’s final speech… ugh. I’m gonna miss her soooooo much!!

Ed Sheeran’s two new singles… He’s back yayyyy! I’ve missed him!

Today we got a buncha show and I took out my camera to get a few photos…

Hope you guys liked those photos and that you all had a good first week of 2017!

Happy Saturday, guys!!

goodbye, 2016!

Ah. At last, it has has finally come.

The last day of 2016!

Happy Saturday, everyone. I hope you’re spending the last day of the year with your friends and family. If not, I hope you’re watching Netflix and eating junk food alllll day. Either way, I wish you all the best year ever.

I love a New Year.  I love starting the year from scratch, having new firsts, and just trying to have the best year possible. And yeah. I’m one of those people who says, “this is the last time I’ll see you in 2016!” or “this is the last piece of pizza I’ll eat in 2016!” When you meet me I don’t seem like a sappy or nostalgic person at all, but I just like mentioning those things cause it’s fun and it gets ya thinking 🙂

This year was interesting. Veeeeeery interesting. I started 2016 in my favorite place: New York City. It was so much fun and whenever I am there, I always have the best time. This year, I graduated middle school and started high school. I made a ton of new friends and discovered new things about me! (I know, I know. So corny!)

This year I also discovered music I didn’t know would change my view on life, books that made me think, and television and movies I had no idea I needed to watch! Buuuuut, I’ll get to that in a second.

I try to only mention positive things here on my blog, but don’t think I’m gonna skip the bad parts of 2016. Personally, I had a pretty good year. If the world were talking, it’d probably say that it was one of the worst years in a long time! We lost so many great artists and people, but their legacy will live on. It was also the last year with one of the best presidents EVER: Barack Obama. Gosh, I’m gonna miss him and Michelle. Speaking of presidents, The US now has a new president who I hope does not destroy the world. (Sorry, Trump supporters.)

The world became a very scary place this year and I never thought it would be like this. I’m just hoping things get better in 2017!

Okay guys. Enough with all the sadness. Let’s get to my yearly favorites!!

TV: Freaks and Geeks, The Office, Gilmore Girls (Original and A Year in the Life), Stranger Things, Haters Back Off, The Fosters, New Girl, SNL,  How I Met Your Mother (currently watching that! SO.GOOD.)  And yeah. I finished/watched all of these shows this year. I know! That’s a lotta tv. But TV and comedy shows get me through a lot and I don’t regret one single episode 🙂

Books: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Me Before You, Finding Audrey, To Kill a Mockingbird (I read more, as these are just my favorites, but I hope to read WAY more books in 2017, and watch less TV!)

Movies: Finding Dory, Me Before You, Ghostbusters, Arrival, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. These were all movies that came out this year, but I finally watched all of the Molly Ringwald movies and they are the BEST!!!

I would list my favorites for music, but I made playlist for that! Well, sorta. I made a verrrrrry short playlist of my favorite pop songs of the year. It’s short because there were very few good pop songs. Spotify made a most-listened to playlist for me, too!

So that was just a short run down of my 2016 favorites – pop culture wise. I’d do more, but I’m gonna go enjoy the last day of 2016.

Happy New Years! I wish you ALL the best in 2017 and that you have an amazing year.

See ya! XOXO, 2016 Josie

Ps: what’s your New Years resolution? Mine is to write in my journal everyday, and write on here more!

Ok that was a lame way to end my last post of 2016… I need a good word to end it on… hmm…. what’s a fun word to say?

Razzle! Dazzle!

Yes! Have a razzle-ey dazzle-ey 2017! 🙂

Easiest Christmas Cards EVER!

Hey guys! Happy Saturday! As I write this I am knitting a Christmas gift for my friend (not at the same time, of course) and listening to the new Hamilton mixtape! (Jimmy Fallon, I LOVE YOU!!)

Today I am sharing literally the EASIEST Christmas card DIY. It’s extremely customizable, which I always love. I think customizable DIYs are awesome cause you can make them suit your style, and use what you already have at your house!

What I Used:
-christmas construction paper (I got mine in the $1 section @ Target!)
-glue
-scissors
-washi tape
-star gems
-pencil

Yep. THAT’S IT! If you’re a crafter or you’ve got a ton of craft supplies, I’m sure you’ve got all of this in your drawers.

I did two different types of cards, but as I said above, you can change everything to make it suit your style. I just figured I would share the ones I made this year! There are a ton of great ideas on Pinterest.

^^ The final products…^^

I am one of those people who likes making their cards opposed to buying them. Sometimes I get so proud of my cards that I’m more excited for people to see them than the actual present haha! I hope you guys enjoyed this and maybe try to make them yourself, cause they were super fun to make!

Can you believe there are only, like, 15 days til Christmas?!?!?!? AHHH!!!
